To master 2D visual art skills and some professional techniques. 
Students draw human and animal cartoon figures. Later in the year, students study the effects of light and shadow.

Proposed Schedule of Art Classes for the 2018/2019 Academic Year
- If you do not know at what level to register your student, take your best guess. If your child needs to be at another level, we can reassign him or her       after the first class.


Level 2 - STUDENTS FROM LAST YEAR’S A1 OR EQUIVALENT, 100% STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTION 
Tuesday, 3:30-4:30pm, Thursday,  5:30-6:30 ,  Saturday, 10:00-11:00am and 6:00-7:00pm;  Sunday, 10:00-11:00am and 6:00-7:00pm;

Intermediate - Level 3 - INTRODUCTION TO 3D DRAWING- STUDENTS FROM LAST YEAR’S A2 OR EQUIVALENT, 50% STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTION

To master the drawing and painting of people, animals and landscapes.  
Students draw from real-life human models and incorporate watercolors into their human figure drawing as part of refining their 3D techniques of perspective, and light and shadow.

To prepare art pieces for future professional or academic presentations. 
This class will feature a great deal of individualized attention to specific projects. The teacher will instruct and evaluate the individual student’s work from a professional perspective and impose a sense of urgency into the projects so as to faithfully simulate the demands of the professional world.

Students practice still-life, landscape, human and animal anatomy. They also practice perspective by drawing landscapes (including architecture) in cartoon and realistic styles and in Chinese painting.

To use the 3D techniques of perspective, and light and shadow in painting with watercolor,  tempera, and acrylic.  
Students continue to practice perspective by drawing still lifes, landscapes (including architecture) and human  figures in three- dimensional, realistic styles.

Teaching Assistant Training (Free.) - FOR ADVANCED STUDENTS REGISTERED IN A TWO-HOUR AAS CLASS WHO ARE 14 YEARS OLD OR OLDER
Students register for this two-hour class, then select Teaching Assistant Program on the registration form. 

Goal:   
To earn community-service experience and credit by teaching others to draw and paint.    The best students in this program may also qualify for partial or full scholarships for their Asian Arts School classes.  Any scholarship awarded will be based on the quality and quantity of the work that the volunteer contributes.  All  volunteer hours will be evaluated and documented.
We have 33 classes in the 2018-2019 school year.  The classes will start on August 28, 2018 and end May 26, 2019.  The 33 classes do not include the major school holidays:  Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year, Chinese New Year and Spring Break.  Below are the proposed classes and hours. The registration formtuition payments and the calendar are on the links here.
If a class has less than 5 registrations, it will be canceled and the students will be moved to another open class of the same level.  If most of the students in a class are in a level different from the designated level of the class, we will change our schedule to align our class level with the level of most of the students.
The deadline to pay the full amount with a 10% discount is August 20,2018.  We have open registration days on both August 18 and 19, from 10am to 3pm.
Bridge Contest winners who place 1st, 2nd and 3rd this year will receive a $50 discount. The Honorable Mention awardees will enjoy a $25 discount. Any winner of a major art competition will be considered for a discount.  
AAS Summer Camp volunteers will have full or partial scholarships based on the amount of their volunteer hours.
